Insights: fieldwork in times of Corona
We are very excited to announce that our PAVE research teams will allow us to gain insights to their experiences of conducting field research in times of Corona and you can look forward to articles in blog-style on this website, with bimonthly contributions between Spring and Fall 2021. They will share and reflect on a range of themes, from the practical challenges posed by contact restrictions, lockdown and ethical considerations to pertinent impacts of the strategies they chose to deal with these challenges, such as building trust in online interview settings, data security questions and access limitations. Where possible they will also share fieldwork observations on the impact of the pandemic on their research themes – reflecting on how local communities have dealt with Corona and if that experience has a potential to impact their resilience against violent extremism; but also how violent extremist actors have reacted to the pandemic.
