PREVEX & PAVE Joint Final Conference in Brussels

The PAVE consortium together with its sister project PREVEX finally met for the presentation of project findings

On 18 and 19 April 2023, the PAVE consortium came together a last time for its final conference. The conference consisted of the final General Assembly meeting of the project, in addition to a policy dissemination event and a research seminar, which were both jointly organised with PAVE’s sister project PREVEX.

At the General Assembly meeting, the PAVE consortium took stock of the work that was achieved throughout the three-year project timeline and the key results from each work package were presented. In addition, a workshop on sustainability of the project outcomes was held, in order to make sure that PAVE insights and outputs will be promoted and leave a trace way beyond the official end of the project timeline.

The policy dissemination event took place in the afternoon of 18 April. Together with colleagues from PREVEX, we presented key findings from our projects, exchanged on the implications of our research with key EU stakeholders and discussed our joint policy recommendations on the prevention of violent extremism (PVE). PAVE and PREVEX have worked on common issues concerning radicalisation, journeys to extremism, and community resilience in the Western Balkans, the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel for over three years. Joining forces in a final conference allowed us to show the depth of the research of the two projects, present concrete policy outputs resulting from the research, and build on the important synergies that have emerged through joint seminars and in-country dissemination events.

In the morning of 19 April, the conversation took a more academic turn with a research seminar in which partners of PAVE and PREVEX discussed draft articles for a potential joint special issue in an academic journal.
